Wilfie is known as being a choice dive bar for younger West Village locals (most people come here to actually meet people, especially finance types). Late Friday and Saturday nights can get a bit "broy," but the crowd is usually a fairly diverse and youthful mix of people. The space itself has an slightly upscale, dim light english pub feel, and is very warm and cozy (even during the coldest winter nights). Drinks are usually well made and stiff, but somewhat on the expensive side (this is West Village after all). Service is usually friendly, but gets a bit slow once the space reaches capacity as the night gets late.
All in all, if you're looking for a late night spot to meet make some new friends over strong drinks, Wilfie & Nell is your spot.
If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would (YELP PLEASE LET US USE HALF STARS!) but I must settle for the slightly harsh rating of 3.
For one, this place is sooooo cozy inside; perhaps too cozy. It makes you want to roll up into a ball and fall asleep with your drink instead of being lively and have fun.
That being said, it was still a nice spot. Definitely they know their drinks as their cocktail menu sounded very delicious albeit a little pricey.
We ordered beers which were craft beers, I think some of them local, and the one I got was delicious. On the downside, a cheese plate we ordered with only three cheeses on it took over 30 minutes…. This was definitely unacceptable, especially since the place was almost empty.
At the end of the day I would most like not return, only maybe for once of those tasty craft beers.
Very chill place. Dimmed lights, great drinks, and a great time. The mixed drinks were awesome, really well made. We came on a Monday night and the bar still had a bunch of people enjoying themselves. We will definitely be back. Cheers!
Been here only a few times for drinks, but I'm always impressed. A decent crowd of people with a mix of ages. More importantly, the drinks are served nice and stiff and reasonably priced, a welcome experience for the area. Great place to pre-drink before a show at the Cherry Lane Theater. Definitely worth a check out.
Cute place for an appetizer and a drink 🙂 bar actually has romantic feel to it! Dim lights and a good atmosphere. Bartender was attentive to what we needed. There were a lot of gay couples and well as businessmen.
Appetizer would be just perfect if dates weren't stale. That was a bummer.
It takes a lot for me to return to a bar or restaurant, but I am officially a regular at Wilfie & Nell. Like the bar named Cheers on that show named Cheers, people here know my name (for better or for worse). And I think they actually like me (for some reason).
Let's get this out of the way: W&N is great for meeting people, if you catch my drift. I'm talking about hot local singles in your area. Always a ton of people on Fridays, Saturdays, and even Sunday (during and post-brunch). Gender ratios are usually pretty balanced. The later it gets, the more crowded it is, which is both good and bad.
They have a ton of great whiskeys and bourbons available (most of which are reasonably priced), and bartenders who more often than not make sure you get a buyback at the end of the night. I always go for a pickleback.
I've also eaten here a few times. Their La Frieda burger is surprisingly solid and better than what you'd expect at a bar. The pork sliders are just ok. You'll probably also be tempted by the smell of fries coming out of the kitchen. Just give in, you can diet tomorrow.
The only thing that saddens me is whenever I look at my credit card statement at the end of the month. Going to Wilfie & Nell eight times in four weeks really takes a toll on the bank account. But it's so fun.
Oh well, worth it for review #1,800.
Popped in here for a quick brew and caught up with a few friendlies visiting from Virginia and saw plenty of people hang out here, grab a drink and a bite. We were here post-dinner, so more a relaxing time. The bar was busy, the brew cold, and overall a very chill place with some seats around and a simple vibe. Nothing complex, a good local watering hole.
Went here on a Wednesday night to get drinks. Fun and nice hole in the wall bar. Almost tried everything on the cocktail list and it was all super good and has the right kick of flavor. Definitely a good place for a casual drink.
