  1. When I heard 69 was closing, I was devastated… But it basically got renovated and a new name. Food is still great, we always get the salt and peppered wings, chow fun and fried rice. They also have the same staff (love those guys!). Food comes out super fast and it's super cheap. Cash only though.

  2. It's like 69 Bayard never closed.  If you missed the chance to eat at 69 Bayard on it's final days before it closed, you're in luck as the food and much of the menu here at Wing Kee is the same, if not identical, to it's predecessor.  The walls got a touch up and overall a bit brighter but the layout is the same as ever.  The restaurant is so familiar (less the dollar bills) that it almost feels like an alternate reality.  Though I am sure it'll be back to normal soon as dollar bills start adorning the walls once more.

The food still tastes great.  One of the few remaining places that make fish and tofu over rice really well.  Other places over fry the fish or use frozen which leaves a doughy bland taste and nothing else, but not here.  I am just glad someone kept the good food at low prices going.

  3. This is essentially the same exact restaurant that was "closed" better known as "69" or the restaurant with "money taped to their walls".

The restaurant has the same awesome staff and food choices for great prices. The portion size and the affordable prices for their authentic dishes make this establishment an absolute no brainer.

I normally order the pork chops with onions over rice and the taste is always consistent. You can bring a small party to the place and order "family style" so that everyone can try a little bit of each dish.

We're glad you reopened 69.5. Especially those of us that missed your final days.

  4. Simply put: This is as good as American-Chinese food gets. This is the venerated "69 Chinese" reincarnated, and dually to the rejoicing of NY'ers far and wide.

When you think of hole-in-the-wall, classic New York chinese, this is what you imagine. Orange subway tile walls adorned with dollar bills from loving guests, and tourists lucky enough to have an inside scoop, a friendly staff and menu that haven't changed for decades. I eat here at least once a week, and for good reason.
