After a long day of criss crossing the city through the day, I met up with some friends at Wingstop last night. We all ordered the Hawaiian, teriyaki, Louisiana rub, garlic Parmesan, and original hot wings. The friends who were very familiar with the restaurant highly recommended the Louisiana Rub as their favorite, but I wanted to try others as well.
The Hawaiian, as you can probably imagine, was sweet but hard to describe. If you can imagine a cross between teriyaki and honey mustard, that might be it.
The teriyaki was teriyaki.
The original hot were, hot wings.
The Louisiana rub was true indeed extremely good. It was a well-seasoned dry rubbed wing with plenty of flavor, just the right kick, and as all the other wings, super juicy bust still done on the inside.
The garlic Parmesan was also phenomenal. Imagine a garlic dry rubbed wing then sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Nice!
All the wings were very juicy and the NBA Finals game complimented them very well.
To put in perspective of what I think of these wings. I went back to Brooklyn from Manhattan and picked up some Louisiana Rub and Garlic Parmesan wings today, a day after.
I've been a long time fan of Wing Stop. Stemming from my college days in Florida and continuing through my years in California, I have long loved the lemon pepper wings. When I realized there was a location in Brooklyn, I was thrilled! Unfortunately, that excitement was short-lived. It's not that the wings at this location are bad; they just weren't very good. I tried the mango habanero, which was not nearly as flavorful or spicy as it sounds. I also got the lemon pepper (of course). This was the saddest part. There was so little lemon pepper spice. It tasted like I was eating plain, unseasoned wings. I saved up the tiny pieces of seasoning at the bottom of the container to at least make my last bite worth it, but by the time the last bite rolled around, I was already drowning in disappointment. I'm hoping this was just a bad day and that their wings are generally better. Once I recover from the shock, I'll give it one more shot.
I had to come here and try the lemon pepper wings Rick Ross is always talking about.
I can see why he's always talking about it.
I only had one of my boyfriend's & I regret not ordering my own.
I had the teriyaki wings, they were pretty good, but not as good as the lemon pepper wings.
Two things I didn't like, register girl spelled my name wrong. She was so adamant about getting my name before getting my order too.
Rhonda without the H is NOT normal, I don't care if it's silent! /rant.
Second thing, register girl kept going in the back with her long weave dangling. Put on a damn hair net, I don't care if you're not preparing the food. I don't need Mei Ling's hair in my food. /rantpart2
I love that they have a window where you can look in and see how they're preparing your food.
Oh and the soda machine, yes I do want grape Sprite!
If I'm ever downtown brooklyn, I'm definitely coming back here to eat.
This was my first time ordering out at this location. I pre-ordered for the Super Bowl over the phone about two days in advance. They took my order and triple checked to make sure everything was right. I even got 5 free boneless wings from a deal on the Wing Stop app! And even though I ordered through the phone, they gave me the app deal anyway! So sweet!
When I got there around 5pm Super Bowl Sunday, it was packed! Apparently, it didn't occur to people to order a day or two in advance. I think I saw Nichelle M. (who left an earlier review) when I was there too. She was yelling at the counter guy because she couldn't place an order over the phone. My response is: what did you expect? Of course it was going to be packed. Of course their phone lines are going to be tied up. It seemed like a lack of planning that resulted in her dissatisfaction. I feel personally offended by her bad review because I do have a certain love for Wing Stop; especially after they took such good care of my order today.
I was completely pleased with my Super Bowl order experience! I pre-ordered for a 5 o'clock pick up. Like I said, it was a damn jungle when I got there. It seemed like more people were waiting for their food than there were people ordering– which makes sense since they cook to order. A woman in non-uniform clothes took my order. She looked up my preorder and had someone else ring me up. After I paid, it was about 5 minutes before my order came out. I checked the peek through window on the side just to see HOW crazy it was and let me tell you… They probably had about 15 employees cramped back there all on top of one another.
Anyway, my chicken was fresh and piping hot! It came in a huge brown bag with no handles. I kind of balked at how big my order was. The non uniformed girl (I'm guessing the manager) offered to get me a big plastic bag but I declined. She was frazzled enough! I was in and out in 15 minutes!
Knocked off a star because:
Their wings are smaller than other locations I've been to.
Packaging! They packaged my veggies and fries in open faced containers. Couldn't they have put them into one of those closable to-go styrofoam containers?
After venturing downtown Brooklyn for a Macy's run, my mind began to race as I walked back to my car thinking, "what the heck am I going to eat, shopping makes me so hangry (not misspelled)"! Out of nowhere appears Wingstop and my belly was happy for it.
The woman working at he counter was very friendly and immediately noticed my confused look as I gazed at the menu. The wings are small and no they won't come out as quickly as if you were ordering a burger at McDonald's. But hey, that's because it's not sitting under a heat lamp waiting for you to place an order. I Actually think it gave the place a bit of character. I like that there are several options of wing flavors to select from. I also ordered one yeast roll for my wait. It tastes like potato bread basted in butter- yup it's a 39 cent treasure.
Though several combos are available, I decided to go strictly wings on this first trip by splitting my order into half Cajun and half hot. Tasty! I also opted to get a side of ranch dip and a side of bleu cheese. 7 minutes into my 14 minute wait (they told me exactly how long my wait would be) I was told that they were out of bleu cheese. The manager was so apologetic, offered me several alternatives and then quickly refunded my 89 cents.
They also have self service on beverages that I'd like to think of as the fountain of options: touchscreen that allows you to pick powerade as an example and then a sunscreen opens up that offers like 10 different flavors of Powerade.
It's pretty much half step from being a fast food joint, but as a lover of wings, I'm thinking that I'll be back.
Great wings at an affordable price. Def try the Louisiana rub, lemon pepper and garlic parm flavored; you won't be disappointed! Love that it's made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. The wings come out piping hot, crispy, and juicy–perfection.
Overall the wings here are pretty good. They offer a nice selection of rubs and sauces to choose from and either classic bone in wings or boneless- if you're into that.
The chicken is cooked to order so it's fresh and hot when you get it. In terms of price I find them expensive… 6 bone in wings, a side of potato salad, and medium drink- $10. But you get what you pay for, the quality is pretty good. Try the Louisiana rub wings if you like your wings with a kick but don't want to deal with messy fingers from the ones with sauce.
One star short of perfect because I've never seen more than one person working the front counter and it's annoying to have to wait to order on a short lunch break.
