“There's nothing overtly special about Wogies if you're a New Yorker looking for a sports bar.”

Wogies serves up one of the cheese steaks on the island, with a fairly diverse menu ranging from your traditional steak sandwich, to chicken alternatives, to sausage sandwiches, to pizza steak sandwiches. The food tends to be fresh and well made, with most sandwiches in the $10-12 range. The space itself is a no frills sports bar, with mostly booth seating and a small outdoor patio on hopping Greenwich Ave. The beer and hot wing deals tend to be very cheap, but most people come for the steak sandwiches.
The biggest complaint I have about this place is delivery. The store itself only opens at 11:30AM on weekdays, so if you're looking to order delivery for lunch, don't expect to eat until 1:30-2PM (estimated delivery is usually 1.5 hours). These guys tend to get massive lunch orders from some of the office buildings downtown, which can slow the process even further.
Cheap enough beer and the garbage bread (their name not mine) is greasy and satisfying. Think of it as a weird inverted pizza loaf. There's also an outdoor seating area which is always nice.
Really wishing I had a 3.5 star rating. On a Sunday, our targeted destination had a 2.5 hour wait on a long line without the ability to make a reservation. Wogies to the rescue!
Cozy and cute, it's big enough to host a bunch of people without being overwhelmingly huge. There were clearly some regulars, meaning that it's a destination that's good enough to come back to. The beer was decent, with some of their own brews paired with some classics (Yuengling anyone?). The food was ok – classic American fair. The food wasn't earth shattering, but it satiated our hungry tummies while giving our feet a break.
In the area – definitely give it a go even if it's just for a quick drink or two. Hungry? Grab a bite to eat too.
Wogies is my jam! Best wings (Krazy Kate's wings aka buffalo wings), so good that I've never ordered anything else. I order take out all the time and it's never taken more than 30 mins! All of their sauces are made in house and you can really taste the difference! Great place to watch games too!
one of my favorite spots for wings in the city!! really crispy and saucey with tasty blue cheese and ranch. also a fan of the cheese steaks, the waffle fries and chicken tenders. really everything is so yummy! service there is also friendly and attentive and they always have some good tunes playing in the background. now that the weather is getting colder outside this place fills up quick as its pretty small inside. lots of tables outside that just cant be used. also have a good sunday night wing deal after 8pm.
In an area of quaint bistros and artisanal stuff, it is always good to have a quasi-dive spot to get some cheap eats – especially late night. We were out wandering around our neighborhood last night and were looking for something simple to eat. It was after 11 and almost every restaurant was closed.
We stumbled upon Wogies on Greenwich and popped in for a bite. The menu is pretty simple, comprised of the usual bar food suspects. We split an order of mild wings. The wings were pretty good, crispy on the outside, drenched with a somewhat spicy buffalo sauce.
The service was ok. We had to flag down the server to our table a few times, but our server was also a bartender (since it was so late at night), so it really was not that big of a deal. I will definitely return here again.
I've been on this block many a time to visit other restaurants, but I only recently made it to Wogie's at the late end of a long week. It wasn't really all that packed on a Friday night, so staying inside or outside would have been fine either way; we went with the latter because the temperatures had finally reached a reasonable temperature. The outdoor space isn't too large, but it was enough to jam a decent-sized group in there without spilling onto the street. Our waitress came by a decent amount, although our initial order for food got lost in translation. Additionally, pitchers aren't served – which makes little sense to me…ordering separate beers for everyone was a bit of a pain. The selection also wasn't stellar, and the house IPA was very average in the connotative sense of the word. That said, the food was quite solid overall. The cheesesteak isn't the best I've had – the beef was a little chewier and drier than I would have preferred, but it was compensated for with a good helping of Wiz and a soft bun. The waffle fries are definitely the highlight, although they were served with artisanal ketchup…just stick with Heinz!
I might come back again for a casual stop, but I wouldn't set expectations any greater than you would for your typical pubs / taverns. Inside felt a bit divey, particularly because one bathroom was having some plumbing issues…a slippery floor in dim lighting isn't the greatest look. The grub was decent, and at least on that night, that was what counted the most for me.
This was a nice place to get a quick drink, had a sports bar vibe. Bartender was nice and I liked my gin & tonic. Seats were taken on Saturday night but it wasn't that crowded. LOVED the background music- music from the 90's and 2000's!
