  1. Arrived in pretty late at La Guardia and wasn't fed on any of my domestic flights, so decided to come here for a late dinner. It is literally downstairs next to my friend's apartment, and is open 24 hours.

I was the only diner when I entered. I was greeted in Korean but then the waitress figured out I was Chinese and subsequently spoke Mandarin to me the rest of the meal. I have never encountered such fluent Mandarin in a Korean restaurant before, but it is Flushing after all (the menu has English, Korean, and Chinese names for each dish).

I thought the banchan were great and I got seven dishes even as a single diner. I ordered the oxtail noodle soup, which was a nice large comforting bowl. It also came out with a small side of fried squid.

Service was courteous and friendly, and the interior is your typical Korean barbecue place. People seem to rave about their all-you-can-eat BBQ, which I didn't get a change to try this time.

Definitely not a bad place, and prices are pretty comparable to most other Korean places.

  2. Came here with a bunch of friends for dinner after classes! We actually arrived in Flushing with no idea of where to go and ended up at Woo Chon for Korean tofu. When we went in, we were seated right away since there was like no one else in there but that had to be the best part of the subpar service…We sat near the back and basically didn't get any service the whole time we were there…When we needed refills of water, one of my friends actually had to go up to the front just to get someone. Other than when they brought the food to our table, I never saw our server. The decor was average. I found it weird that they were playing Celine Dion in a Korean restaurant that's located in a Chinese neighborhood.

Banchan- It seems like they give less than what typical Korean restaurants give. I'm not a big fan of banchan since I don't like the combination of salty/sour.
Beef soondubu- They might as well have called it Plain Soondubu since the beef was basically nonexistent…With the exception of a few microscopic pieces, it was all tofu. The tofu was not bad though and I liked mixing it with my rice.
Grilled chicken- My friend and I were not full from the soondubu so we had to order a grilled chicken also. We both despised the soybean sauce that coated the chicken because it took away all of the flavor/texture of the chicken. We had to dunk the chicken in our tofu stew just to make it edible.

There are many other delicious options located in the heart of Flushing and I would advise that you go elsewhere instead. The food and service here were both subpar.

  3. Typical Korean restaurant and conveniently located. The restaurant wasn't crowded and we were able to sit there comfortably knowing we wouldn't be getting kicked out for our table. I got the tofu soup and it was okay. Cant really mess up korean staples. I continue to come to this place because of the convenience but nothing really wows me.

  4. Six years after my initial review, and Woo Chon still delights with their soondubu! I found myself returning on yet another freezing cold day, craving a bubbling bowl of tofu to fill my tummy and warm my soul before rushing off to an evening class.

The service was just as warm. The ban chan was just as tasty. The soondubu I ordered was just as delicious as I remembered as well. My only issue was that the beef they used seemed to be far more gelatinous and tendon filled than what I remembered. While that is a preference for many people, it certainly is not a favorite of mine. I found myself fishing them out, piece by piece and leaving them to the side. Still, the soondubu itself was delicious, and I very much enjoyed all other ingredients within it. When I return, I'll avoid beef and order the seafood, chicken or mushroom versions instead.

  5. We tried the all you can eat Korean BBQ option for $26 per person on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was not packed during that time, so we were seated right away, and we were able to find street parking nearby. We tried the chicken, squid, beef, intestine, and bulgogi which the waitress cooked on our tabletop. We enjoyed the chicken and bulgogi the most by far. I would not recommend the intestine because it is rather chewy. I felt like I was about to explode by the end of the evening, especially with all the free appetizers and tofu soup. We will definitely come here again.

  6. When entering, it feels like a country or Texas style BBQ as they use wooden borders to separate groups and tables. For drinks, they provide glass cups that look like whisky glasses more than soda glasses so it has a real nice old country feel to it.

The perfectly fried seafood pancake was a nice treat and they have enough waitresses speedily catering to all tables. Much to my surprise the bus boys here are nice enough to get your drink orders for you. How efficient is that?

To me if you want good AYCE Korean BBQ and can't make it to Picnic Garden because you unfortunately happen to be closer to Woo Chon then I would highly recommend coming here.

It certainly isn't going to be the best meat money can buy but easily beats most pay per order KBBQ hands down and $25 is not easy to beat anytime soon.

  7. I came here 3 times now, once for the all you can eat Korean BBQ and the other two times was ordering from their regular menu.  Whether if you're ordering from the regular menu or the Korean BBQ, both options are pretty good.  The Korean BBQ was something good I tried about 2 years ago and I felt it wasn't tasty or salty enough.

The two more recent times that I have come here, the food is good and plentiful.  They give you a small fried fish per customer, and it is one of the highlights of the meal.  They also have unlimited kimchi, you just need to tell them what you want to refill.  The small fried fish is something that is only given once, and if you want seconds, it'll cost $2.50.  With the unlimited kimchi and vast menu, there's many things to try.  Go and try it all.

  8. okay after coming here another time, definitely going to bump this place down a notch…….the meat here is reaaly reallly bad, it tastes extremely stale and I would't be surprised if it was frozen for about a year before they got it ready to serve. The last time I was here the meat was extremely tough and unappetizing, I have been extremely hesitant to come back since
