I came here with my family after graduation because I figured it was far enough from the venue and close enough to home to not be packed. Win on my decisions!
This place knows what they're doing with pizza!
It was insanely good. I could have easily eaten an entire pie by myself. The crust is thin but has that special flavor you only get from a brick oven. And the flavors were excellent as well.
We ordered a family salad for the table and my parents split the antipasti salad. We kept it simple an ordered one of the plain, pepperoni, and mushroom pizzas. My dad (weirdo) ordered spaghetti and meatballs.
everyone was incredibly impressed with the food. This is a new favorite and I'll be again soon!
Good, but not great.
We really came for the outdoor seating. There isn't a view of anything other than the main road, but it's still a very nice setting and great on a beautiful sunny day!
The complimentary bread basket with seasoned olive oil is huge. Pace yourself because it's easy to demolish that bad boy.
Now on the the not great part: the pizza. It's decent, but it was easy for us to say we've had better. The crust is very thin, and doesn't hold the weight of toppings well. A small is really small, so pay the extra cash for the large. We tried:
-Napoli – just ok, but can't expect much from something that's essentially salad (arugula) on a pizza.
– Mushroom and peppers – much better. Topping too heavy for crust, but enjoyable nonetheless.
– Carnivores went to town on the buffalo chicken and carne. The latter was a favorite.
Verdict: loved the outdoor seating and will probably come back to try their entrees, but I'll get my pizza fix elsewhere.
this place is a walking distance from Garden State Plaza mall if you dont want to eat inside the stuffy overpopulated mall. This place is super cute inside, reminds me of a ski chalet or a countryside summer house.
My dad usually gets me the Italian tuna wrap as a takeout. It is one of my favorite meals to satisfy my salt cravings. I think the tuna is from a can which I'm not too crazy about but I love the way its prepared without mayo. It is the only tuna I will eat cause I'm scared and hate mayo a lot. I finally got the chance to see where my favorite wrap comes from this past week for dinner.
Unfortunately for dinner, they do not serve the wrap but I was able to get a Mediterranean Salad with Italian tuna. The salad was close to $15 and a little on the small side. When it was presented on the plate, it looked tiny. However, it was still a good basic salad at a nice restaurant and I was thankful. Our waitress too was very nice.
I ate here with my family following a wedding rehearsal for my niece Friday night.
The service was top notch. The servers were there for anything we needed and were all very accommodating. Especially to a few family members who have food allergies.
The Caesar salad was good, followed by calamari rings that were cooked perfectly. Nice and tender, not rubbery.
Then we were served platters of pene with bits if ham in a vodka sauce. The pene were al dente. (perfect!) Finally the meal ended with Chicken Marsala and Veal Piccata. The chicken was OK but the veal was really good. So tender I could cut it with a fork!
On the whole, everything was, "good." Nothing really stood out and, "blew up my skirt."
Solid three stars in my opinion.
I went back home to Bergen County this past weekend so I stopped here for lunch with a girlfriend. She suggested Woodstone which I hadnt heard of. When we pulled up I had a case of serious deja vu. This place used to be the old Junkyard. A throwback college bar that let anyone with a terrible fake ID in and had either the dumbest bouncers or the best considering my friends and I used to flawlessly pull off the pass back move. Anyway, the new owners did a nice job revamping the place. Its a casual setting. Servers are all very nice. They seem to get a good crowd. It was nice enough for us to sit outside which was great. Woodstone has a nice big outside patio it overlooks the busy main road but it's still nice. The food was good too. A mix of bar food and basic Italian. I had a burger my friend had a salad. Both were good. Nothing overly special. We had a few glasses of wine and had been hanging out so long catching up that the owner came out and gave us a free round which in my book is always a plus. I'd definitely go back when I visit my hometown.
Came here on a Saturday with the family. Walk in and no one was to be found to seat us, finally a waiter said basically sit where we want. Brought us water and drinks after a while and ordered:
Antipasto (cold) – had a decent amount of fresh mozzarella and provolone but the meats weren't that good (thick cut and non imported quality) the middle of the plate had some vegetables but were overladed with capers so it was over salty.
Buffalo Wings – no complaints here except should have ordered the hot ones and not mild. Very tasty. Good size, tasted fresh, and were very crispy. Everything i look for in a buffalo wing.
Pizza with Broccoli – Who knows how it tasted because it never made it to the table. No one came to the table to ask about the appetizers so when i finally yelled for the water i told him and basically said "oh sorry". Later on he said the pizza guy was busy blah blah. Nothing was done to make the situation better even as the owner walked by a few time did stop and say sorry or try to rectify this. It was a freakin thin crust pizza they cook in a 800 degree oven, it wouldn't have killed them to fire one and bring it to the table.
Pasta with Seafood – ehh, was a huge family style portion with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari in a red sauce. Pasta was over cooked, dry and had to ask for extra sauce (which took forever to get) mussels weren't fresh nor cleaned as almost every one had the beards attached and the calamari was overcooked as was the shrimp, basically everything was over cooked and bland. Had this dish before and though was good enough to order again but this time was horrendous.
Service was horrible although i must say the bus boy and woman were great as they tried to help when we asked for things as we couldn't wait around for the waiter. Food was mediocre at best, too many places to go then to possibly try this place again as i have had a split declension between really good and really bad. Especially thinking about those mussels and how it tasted and how much time was spend in the bathroom with a stomach ache. Yup won't be back.
Place is really cute and gets super busy on the weekends. I took my parents there for mothers day. The ambiance is loud and busy but you can still hear your party and not feel like people are listening to your conversation. The prices are great and their pizza is yum!!! Their anchovies pizza is a little more salty then expected (understanding anchovies as a topping is salty). Their pizza dough is exactly how i like it, crispy and on the thinner side. It has great ambiance and large menu list of items which makes it perfect for a very nice dinner out as a couple or a large group. If your party is ordering Pizza and regular menu items, expect the items to come with slightly different timing (probably the only flaw). Otherwise the service was great as well. I'll be back for sure!
Dinner time, the sun is setting – and sitting on the front porch of this restaurant I am sipping a Guinness and eating thin crust pizza. It sounds delightful, because it was.
This place had been gutted a few years back and they really did a beautiful job renovating.
Even though the front porch faces a busier street, outdoor seating in Bergen County can be hard to come by and I appreciate it when I find it.
The prices are a BIT high and the service could have been better but I'd pay $13 for a small pizza to have this experience again.
