  1. Relatively new, the restaurant has a pretty convenient location.

This could just be the 'fact that I haven't had Chinese food in a while' talking, but I thought this places was pretty great. Most of the prices here are pretty great (in particular, you can get an order of 肠粉 for only $2.50, which I recommend).

The cool thing about this place also is that considering the low prices, the place is very clean and doesn't leave anything to be desired in the area of service or hygiene wise.

  2. Food wasn't the best I've ever had. I still prefer big Wong. My duck wasn't as flavorful and the skin wasn't the crispiest. But I can't get over how aimeizing their service was. From start to finish the ladies here provided over the top service. Not to mention they offered so many free stuff such as soup, sweet soup, white rice. I would def recommend this spot!

  3. Xing Wong is still a relatively new Cantonese bbq, congee, noodle and rice plate restaurant located on the corner of Forsyth Street and East Broadway. It occupies the space of a former Vietnamese restaurant. What is unique about this restaurant is the comparatively vast dining room compared to other area eateries. Since it's still relatively new, the interior still looks clean and shiny. As for the prices, they are standard for the area, in the $5 and up area for noodle and rice dishes.

As for the food, what I had was only passable. I had a Chinese broccoli and beef rice plate. There was too much rice and unfortunately what I remembered most about this dish was that the rice was a bit too dry and hard. There was a lot of it too, which made me wish there was more of the beef and broccoli. The restaurant had a good idea in serving their food in large plates. They just need to get the proportion right and add a little more water to their rice.

I haven't tried their other dishes or meats, so it will be necessary to check those out.

On a final note, service was fast, about 5 to 10 minutes from order to getting our food.

  4. Chinatown can be very overwhelming when you don't know where to go to eat. With little time to decide, walked into this place since it was relatively spacious/not busy at the time (Sat. afternoon).

Ordered the pork with rice and tofu with asparagus. Food took about 20 minutes to come out, but the complementary tea was nice. Pork – a little on the chewy side, but was tender and the sauce was excellent. Tofu – bland, as it didn't soak up the flavors of the dish well, asparagus was good though.

The place is well-staffed and has a nice location near the Chinatown buses, but the food isn't memorable enough to come back.

  5. Went here for a late brunch with family. All of the tables were full at 1:30pm. Good basic Cantonese food.

Roasted pork was delicious, the skin was very crispy. Great for take out.

Whole Soy sauce chicken: perfectly cooked. The texture was very smooth.

Sautéed choy with garlic was basic, same as other restaurants.

Wet beef chow fun noodles and curry chow fun noodles were good.

The fried fish with vegetables was the winner this meal.  It was perfectly fried but wasn't oily.  The whole fish was precut and topped with choy and spring onions.

Servers were very nice and made sure our teapots were full.

We were served oranges for dessert.

Bill was $95 for 11ppl.  This was a bargain especially for the amount of food that was ordered.

  6. So i was feeling adventurous to follow my inlaw to chinatown. Assuming all was Kosher, i walked into a fast food chinese restaurant near the east broadway mall area. It was odd to see that the place was empty at 12pm ( lunch time) I noticed behind the counter there was guy expediing orders, as he was screaming at the top of his lungs to call the orders out.
We all went in and got a table for 6 ppl.
We ordered pourridge with 1000 yr old egg (hard boil egg that has been fermented and eventually  turns black), steam chicken breast with roasted pork over a bed of steam rice.(served with scallions and ginger sauce) be aware the ginger scallions sauce is salty so dont use it all at once.  A platter of chow fan (parpadelle like noodles) with beef and vegetables and wonton soup with egg noodles.  The food seemed fine. While the waitress was dropping orders on the table, we received something that was accidentally sent to our table.  We were about to eat it, when someone in our table was putting their chopsticks to grab food from that order,  when the server realized it belong to the table behind us.  The server literally snatched the entire plate off our table and just gave the food to the table behind us. Talk about no shame and no manners.  Somehow, the A/C was off, or perhaps not cold enough and everyone was sweating bullets at the table. On our way out my 12 yr daughter noticed the sanitation rating of "C" that was displayed on the window. Honestly, if i had seen that prior to seating down, i would have never ate here.
Although we sat on a big table on the back of the restaurant, I could still hear the food expediter scream out orders as if he had a microphone and it was being broadcast in stereo surround sound.  The noise was intrusive and since i dont understand what they are saying, it was somewhat scary.
I wont be going there again, specially after the waitress took the plate of food from our table that had been touched by someone, to simply drop it on the table behind us. Food for the party of 6 was $48 including tax and tip.

  7. Decent Cantonese-style restaurant, which sports a good variety of dishes. Xing Wong offers a plethora of choices ranging from lobster and fish to congee and noodle options.
