Ordered from here the other night. The duck wings looked like they were half eaten and thrown in a cardboard box. The wild curry tastes like feet. Never again, yo!
Really $9.75 for a quart of soup? I probably should have just walked out, but since I did that at the other Chinese place, I figured I needed something to eat. FYI there is no prices for the soup, or I would have just ordered something else.
OK so this soup "spicy noodle soup" is basically broth with a couple of veggies, peanuts and rice noodles NO MEAT.
I don't mind paying this price at a sit down ramen place but this is ridiculous. How is it that hot and sour at any Chinese place has way more components than this and is $3 and change.
I am giving one start for spice.
OK I'm still hungry.
My gf wanted some Thai food and she had this place in mind but had a hard time getting the name. She ordered the pad thai and small tom yum. I wanted something other than Thai food but as we brought home our food I couldn't help but try out her Pad Thai. Did I mention that she got the tofu version and I seriously hate that?
Despite having no meat and being filled with tofu it had a lot of egg in it which satisfied my protein addiction and the pad thai flavor was still pretty good. For a small soup and a veggie Pad Thai though the price was pretty steep and almost twenty dollars for a small soup is too much.
The panang curry, pad see ew, thai iced tea were JUST what the doctor ordered. My friend had never had thai food before and I gave him a crash course on the yum yums. Will be back for pineapple fried rice and tom kha!
I heard the lunch special is so much food for very small amount of money.
One of my go to thai places in astoria. I have been a customer for almost 6 years. My usual is the shrimp pad thai. Now I have really grow to love the black pepper catfish and the ginger soup. The food is pretty tasty and filling. The price is pretty decent for thai food. I use to get the thai ice tea all the time as well. It is really good especially in the summer. Their service is pretty fast I usually take my food to go and I feel like the wait isn't ridiculously long. I come here with my friends a lot but I would also recommend others as well.
I had the good fortune of staying in Astoria today, and I immediately went to look for a good Thai restaurant. Yajai restaurant was the closest one to my location and it appeared to have good ratings.
The first thing I noticed is that it's difficult to communicate with the person answering the phone. I really had to struggle to ensure there was an understanding.
When I got to Yajai, I noted It's brightly decorated, but empty. Was it a bad sign? But the woman working there was very nice, very courteous. The lunch specials were 8 dollars a piece which I thought was quite decent for Thai food.
When I returned to my location to have lunch, I was a bit disappointed.
I ordered green curry with tofu and brown rice. I got white rice instead.
The curry was almost nonexistent.
The only indication that I got any curry was that my rice was slightly saturated with curry.
The tofu and vegetables were very plain, almost tasteless. Most of the food was rice. Not much variety in the vegetables, either. I felt like I was eating monk food.
Soup comes with the lunch special, mine came in a small cup. There were a couple of pieces of bok choy and pieces of leafy vegetables inside. Vegetarian friendly, yes. But I think they were better off just omitting the free soup or salad and focusing on a good meal.
I've had better Thai food in the best, in Long Island, no less!
The food here is okay at best, the service is good (try to avoid phone conversations), it's a nice location with ample seating, the prices are good, but there is such a copious presence of Thai restaurants in Astoria that I believe I could do better.
My father was also disappointed with his green curry. I felt guilty because I am the one who found this place. I thought I was such a Yelp Ace, but apparently, I thought wrong.
Of course it's just my personal opinion, as always.
I finally stopped in for a visit to this popular Thai take-out/delivery spot and thought a review was due after ordering in numerous times.
In a word: average. I'm not no Thai food affectionado, but this place churns out all the solid Thai staples at good quality. Are there better Thai places out there? Tons, but this place is good if you're in the hood and want some soup, pad thai or curry dishes delivered quick.
I get their go-to is delivery but after recently eating in here, I'm not sure I would again. I know they upgraded the inside and it's a basic table/chair setup for about 8 or so tables, but the employees here are too worried about churning out orders and could of cared less about our table. We basically had to waive at one of them back in the kitchen to get some service.
I'll stick to Yajai for delivery going forward.
Started out with some thai iced tea which I had never had before but it was delicious and awesome.
I just let the chef choose and make some of her favorite dishes.
Everything was delicious. I tried vegetarian dishes, meat dishes, a soup, and seafood dishes and they all tasted fresh and flavorful.
I will definitely be back here to explore the rest of the menu the next time I am in NYC.
This is also a great place to get a last meal before heading to LaGuardia.
