Just a down and dirty no-frills spot to grab a monster 24 ounce tall boy beer before a game. Been dropping by this place for years to hang out and get a buzz on and it's a fun little place. The little bar and food area on street level was nothing to ever rave about but this past weekend when I dropped in I saw it was remodeled and looking nice.
I have never ventured down to the 'basement" but have heard it also has been remodeled and upgraded, along with a full bar down there. This place is old and has been around since the old Yankee stadium was erected. Staff always has been friendly and courteous too. It's neat spot to pre-game and have a few beers while chatting with other fans.
Hey, on Friday nights before game time they give out free jello shots with each beer purchase while supply lasts!

economical drinking before heading to Yankee Stadium is a great idea, and Yankee Bar & Grill is the joint to git 'r done. just a hop, skip, and a stumble off the train station too!
pounding down $10 tallboys of Blue Moon, Sierra Nevada, and other tasty brews before the Roger Waters concert the other night was excellent. why pay the same price for half the amount of beer inside the stadium? hello, McFly?!
it's a remodeled basement, with some standing room upstairs too, so it feels a little claustro, but not to the point of being unable to move. fairly clean and staff works fast at keeping the beer flowing.
cool thing is, they have a camera feed of the upstairs area, so you can scope it out if the basement is getting cramped, or want to judge the line for food.
oh, and their air conditioner was on full blast! excellent.
