  1. When talking about the lunch-hour food truck scene in Midtown, one immediately thinks of the trendy, gourmet-style food trucks that dot the street corners along Park Ave.Yogi Korean BBQ, on the other hand, is the quintessential old-school food truck experience, throwing up some seriously tasty Korean "street meat".

I highly recommend the big-portion meat combo (choice of Bulgogi, Spicy Pork, and Grilled Chicken) over rice with Kimchi on the side. Plain salad just isn't my thing when comes to food trucks; fermented Kimchi is just so much better. For the price, the combo will land you decent bulgogi and chicken that are straight off the cart grill. Ask for plenty of teriyaki and spicy mayo sauce for extra kicks.

It is easy to mistake them for a coffee/breakfast stand. They are located on the Northeast corner of 49th and 3rd Ave, right by the outdoor public seating area.

  2. Absolutely amazing food cart. I'm a native Korean, and I have to say that this is the first Korean food cart that tastes the most authentic ! We got the spicy pork dish with both the ginger sauce and the spicy mayo, and both combos were absolutely delicious. They give you huge portions as well, so the $8 that you spend on this meal will be totally worth it. Def grab a mint or gum before you head back into work! And be careful they're only open on Tuesdays and Friday's!

  3. Note the address is 49th and 3rd, located right in front of Devon & Blakely.  The address on the other yelp page said 47th, but when I went on Tuesday, it was located on 49th street.

I don't normally eat from food trucks, but I had been craving korean bbq for a while.  Unfortunately, it was Tuesday and Korilla's not on 47th and Park on Tuesdays.  So did what I normally do – search the internet for other Korean bbq places!

The line was so long and honestly, it took maybe 15-20 minutes, but when I got there, it wasn't that long.  Note, cash only so have cash on hand!  I had the teriyaki chicken with white sauce and oh gosh, it was so good.  It's also only $6, compared to $5 halal, but to be quite honest, it is completely worth it.  I got the fried rice, which was a bit oily, but the chicken made up for it completely.  You also get a little salad and kimchi, if you'd like.  Honestly it was great and so flavorful.  The chicken had the right amount of hardness from the grill, yet it was still tender and didn't look suspicious.  I would absolutely come here again and again.  Thanks Yogi!

  4. The first thing that has to be said about this place is that it's insanely popular. I waited in line for a significant length of time during my lunch break today.

I got two tacos: spicy pork and bulgogi. The bulgogi taco was amazing; I'd definitely get it again. Spicy pork was ok, but slightly under-flavored for my taste; I'd have preferred for it to be spicier. The kimchi is good, and the overall balance of flavors in the taco is good. I'd personally prefer corn tortillas over flour, but that's a personal preference, and doesn't seem like a major issue on the whole.

My only real issue is with the wateriness of the taco overall. Perhaps it's because I chose the hot sauce, but I found my tacos to be positively soggy, which (a) made them difficult to eat and (b) was a little gross. I'd have liked to have a less liquid-filled product; perhaps I'll go with another sauce next time, and see if this minor issue resolves itself.

Important note: I'm fairly certain they only take cash here (which, it has to be said, very narrowly became an issue for me, as I rarely carry any cash on me).

  5. 3.5 stars but i'll round up on good faith. make no mistake, this is a popular cart. I've been looking for this cart for a while. apparently it only appears in midtown east two times a week. the line was about 8-10 people deep and I had to wait about 20 minutes. not for the impatient. Most of the people here were ordering platters but I had a hankering for tacos. The tacos were piled with meat, kimchi, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes. they were very tasty. I liked the spicy pork more than the bulgogi, although both were a touch on the sweet side.  however, there was one small negative and one BIG negative.

On the small negative side, the kimchi could be more shredded as it is hard to eat long strands of it in a taco. it would be fine for a platter. the BIG negative: the tortilla had burnt bits from the grill surface stuck to it. there were at least two medium sized clumps of burnt bits that fell out as I was eating. it definitely detracted from the experience as I had to brush off the bits with my fingers. no one likes the taste of charred bits in their mouths. just nasty. but I liked that they provide big broad sheet napkins as eating these can get messy. overall, I would try this again as it is tasty and a good value. however, I'll keep my fingers crossed for no more burnt bits 🙂

  6. Huge flavor from a little cart.  I'm not a huge food truck guy, as in I don't frequent them (I eat anything).  If it wasn't for Yelp, I would have walked right by this place.  It's as "food truck" as food trucks come, but inside, the food packs a punch.   They serve tacos and rice with either chicken, spicy pork or beef.  I had the fried rice with the pork and beef; served with lettuce tomatoes and hot sauce.

Overall impression is…It was wet.  I wouldn't say it was greasy, but certainly had a lot of moisture here, between the sauce, the juicy marinated meats, and the oily fried rice.  The lettuce and tomato really balances out the dish adding some freshness to the overall richness.

The food is mad fresh and right in front of you, so you can customize everything in the fly, a la chipotle.  So don't get sketched if there is an element you don't like (such as spicy mayo which is my nemesis); they just won't put it on.

This place is not "good for a" food truck, it's just damn good.  If you work in the area or are touring food trucks in nyc, put this place on your radar.  Unique-homey food at a solid price.

  7. I've been trying to figure out why, every time this truck rolls around our block (49th & 3rd, usually), there is a line of 15-20 people waiting to get their hands on it.  Well, this day I was lucky, because the line was only 4 people long.  Not sure what it was, just right timing I guess.  So, originally intending to head out to have a sit-down meal which I hadn't done in a while during work, I forego that to try this option.  Well, now I get it.

I order the spicy pork over rice meal, which comes with the meat, choice of white, brown, or fried rice (I went fried), kimchi, and salad.  Typical and entirely unspectacular.  They also have the requisite K-taco options, but did not partake this time.  Well, guess what?  This meal tastes just like what you get at a legit kbbq restaurant if you had ordered the same thing.  And that's a good thing.  No, great thing.  When I order this dish, this is exactly what I want it to taste like.  Kimchi, Spot on.  Only thing, opt for the white or brown rice, fried rice doesn't add anything to the dish.

If it comes by again and the line isn't too long, or I'm really craving Korean, I will have to try their tacos or even go back to having the same thing.  It's a no-brainer option for fulfilling your Korean belly needs.

  8. Yogi is like 1000x better than Korilla.

    Why?
    1) $7 for significantly larger portions
    2) bigger is better
    3) bigger, better, happier

That's basically it. What other reasons do you need? If you love korean and/or mexican, this is the place to be.

The guys here are so nice. And if you ever wonder why the line takes so long to move, it's cause they pile on like 4-5 scoops of meat on there. Ya complaining now?

Fried rice doesn't cost extra either.. what planet am I on?

In all other cases I love beef more than pork, but at Yogi, I think their pork is better marinated and more tender. Give it a shot.
