“What's really unique about you chun (I've never had this elsewhere) is that they serve TO-DIE-FOR beef broth in thermos.”
“the wait can be long in the summer but one sip of the sagohl and the icy broth of the naengmyun will make you fuhgeddabouit.”

This place never fails to deliver great Korean food. We got the naengmyun (cold noodles), hae jang gook (cow blood soup), and galbi jjim (braised beef). The naengmyun is always bomb here; never fails. The hae jang gook is refreshing, but the congealed cow blood is something a lot of people don't enjoy so be aware. The galbi jjim was pretty good, but wayyyy too sweet for my taste. But the one thing I always enjoy here is the soup they give for appetizer. SO good. Again, great Korean food, but they can make some changes to that overly sweet galbi jjim.
I wasn't a big fan of the food here…. There's just way too many options in the area to go back to any mediocre food places, and You Chun didn't impress me at all.
We ordered the mool naeng myun and seafood tofu soup. The naeng myun was OK – nothing special. I would prefer Shinpo or Choiga. It was a bit too sweet for me.
The seafood tofu soup was completely BLAND. It was literally hot water that looked a little red but it didn't taste like anything at all. We had it sent back and opted for the gam ja tang instead. Again, it was OK nothing really special.
If you're trying Korean food for the first time, do yourself a favor and try a different place. For hot tofu soup, I would try So Kong Dong or BCD.
Overall, there's no reason why I would come back to this place. Too many great options for Korean food in NJ!
Nengmyun is the best in the area. The rest of the menu is pretty average. Frozen mandoo dumplings (meat or kimchi) for $10 a bag is a good deal and they give you broth with it.
From outside, it looks very secluded and intimidating especially if you're not Korean. Since most of the advertising, menu, signage, etc are in Korean. But who the hell cares, good food is good food and good food is for everybody!
They have really good korean dumplings, freshly steamed to order. They also give you lots of banchan before any meals.
Really awesome korean mung bean pancake!
Do try the galbi tang, it was amazing!
Very reasonably priced and it's close to lots of Korean cafes to grab dessert afterward.
I grew up in Korea and the dishes Youchun sell are those I ate while growing up, all year round.
I've tried both of their cold and hot noodle dishes. I like their cold dishes much more and now that summer is just around the corner, it's a nice option to have whenever we are in the area.
I love red spicy pepper paste based cold noodles and I make them all the time at home. But the homemade dish is not the same as that I get from Youchun. In a painfully honest way, restaurants use lots of processed ingredients and MSGs to make their dish more flavorful and tasty. I can tell because whenever I eat out, especially at Korean restaurants, I lack energy and become sleepy. I don't have that when I cook my own food, using only the fresh and the less processed ingredients.
Anyway, aside from that, their potion is huge. The two of us always get the cold red noodles and additional noodles, and we still end up with leftovers. We both didn't enjoy the slate fish taste and the texture, so we always order the noodles without the fish.
When we ordered the mung bean pancakes last time we were at the restaurant, we basically inhaled all of them. We contemplated placing one more order to go, but I remembered that I had mung beans at home. So we went home and cooked ourselves some more of those mung bean pancakes, big and plenty enough for us to have some for the night and for next day's lunch. I realized the restaurant must be using lots of oil when frying the pancakes for them to get to that level of crispness. Almost to a degree of deep frying. But hey, it's a restaurant.
Their side dishes are good, but they have always been the same since our first visit earlier this year. Hope they would have more varieties.
Their frozen dumplings are fairly good as well. They come with some broth that you can use to make the dumpling soup, but we use the broth for cooking other soups, pan fry the dumplings. The frozen dumplings are just so convenient and easy meal that can be bought on your way out from the restaurant.
All staffs have been nice and the service has been quick and attentive.
Great little Korean place with a limited menu but what they make is jam packed with flavor. The handmade Kimchi dumplings are lite and steamed perfectly, but the Spicy Cold Noodles made me really happy.
What really grabbed my attention though was the service. You're greeted with a warm smile and a sincere hello – not mention the waitstaff's eagerness to wanting to help. Try it out is all I have to say. Yums!
Best nengmyun place in all of Nj/Ny. Im so obsessed with all their noodle dishes and steamed kimchi dumplings. I've been coming here for a few years now and i never had one complaint about this place. Even their banchan is delicious!
I would highly recommend this place! Great food & great service : )
My first impression of this place was a good one. I really liked all of the ban chans they provided. I also loved the soup in the thermos! So flavorful and hearty.
Mixed Dumplings (kimchi and beef): My favorite part of these dumplings is the thin, fresh, al dente skin. I enjoyed the beef ones a bit more. They had some glass noodles inside. The kimchi one was good too, but it was just a little weird to me that the dumplings are sour.
Kimchi Pancake: Delicious! It was a really big portion. It had a good amount of scallion and kimchi. Not too doughy like some pancakes I've had.
Spicy Pork Rib Stew:
This soup is quite spicy! Definitely better as a winter dish, but still very tasty. The bones are really big and there is surprisingly a lot of meat on there!
Mul Naengmyeon (cold noodles in beef broth): Perfect dish for the summer. The broth is chilled with ice in it. The noodles are chewy and very refreshing. There were some pear slices in it which added a nice kick!
