Sushi is good. The Teriyaki is kind of bland and gluey. Tempura is excellent. They have green tea ice cream. They were nice about our cranky toddler.
Best sashimi in the area. I have been coming to Yuki with my sister (Pia M. – She's all over Yelp) for YEARS and was always the more conservative sushi eater. Once I started really trying sashimi Yuki sky rocketed to the top of my list in the area. Sashimi quality at a restaurant directly correlates with the quality of the sushi and caliber of the restaurant. Yuki Hana nails it.
I recently moved away to the midwest for school and HATE that I can't have Yuki all the time. I miss it dearly. I've had several rolls but I am a big sashimi person and this place is excellent!
Also, BYOB, so bring some sake to go with that perfect sushi.
I will be back even if I'm home for less than 24 hours! Betcha bottom dollah on it!
impressive!
these guys are situated in a little strip mall very close to drew university, where i'm at this week for a conference, so my co-worker and i came by to give this place some love, because it was open until 10 pm and we'd headed in late in the evening.
good stuff! tasty shu mai, an amazing thin-sliced avocado/salmon/tempura flake appetizer (cold, and crunchy, and soft, and amazing), excellent presentation all around, flavorful seafood rolls, very good-quality sushi (not excellent, slightly better than good), fancy (i think this is a japanese thing) orange cut out around the edges with quarters that could be picked out by toothpicks).
not too cheap (we ran about 45 a head) but pretty good stuff, all said and told. not sure what to say about the folks who had stomach issues or sushi quality problems — maybe the overall execution is inconsistent depending on the day, but for my one experience, 5 stars for madison, 4 overall.
Horrible quality of fish, not sure how people can rate this place so high, and if this is the best quality in Jersey then thats a shame.
Ordered the Sashimi boat for 2 with 15 kinds of sashimi. It came with the most basic types of "sashimi" imitation crab meat, regular shrimp and im surprised they didn't throw in some sweet egg to complete the variety or crap. The boat cost 65 bucks which is ridiculous considering the amount of goodness you can get in Las Vegas for that much. My whole meal was on the company's dime and even then, I still felt upset which shows how bad this place was.
I was actually shocked by the food here (…in a good way)
Being from New York.. and having been to places like Morimoto (while he cooked) and Cotan and practically living on St. Marks, I had low expectations when I saw this sushi place parked within a strip mall in Madison, NJ. (Especially for a Friday lunch – talk about off peak)
According to trusty Yelp though, it had enough good ratings for me to risk a try.
Wow.
Sweet, courteous service! A staff that cared about cleanliness? Nice thick cuts of sashimi.. that was cool to the touch? A good sign. Overall, it was an above average experience with food that exceeded my expectations. Well of course it's not top notch sushi but then again, we're not in Japan. We're in Madison, NJ. So, if you're around and not feeling the Nautilus or Five Guys.. skip the Whole Foods and come down here instead.
*4.5 Stars to be exact*
I have passed this place numerous times never paying any attention to it. Located in a semi-strip mall I tend to stay away from places like this. A friend and I were craving some Sushi and this place showed up on my Yelp app on my phone as highly rated so we gave it a shot. We sat at the sushi bar and admired all types of fish they use. I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to sushi therefore taking what I am about to say may not mean much. I loved the sushi here. It was fresh, very well prepared, service was super friendly and helpful and the chefs (if that is what they are called) recommended several items. I am picky when I eat sushi but I decided to let my hair down and venture into the eel & salmon world. I am generally a spicy tuna and nothing more…maybe tempura because everything tastes great breaded and fried. Simply delicious! All the rolls we ate, and we tried about 7 of them, were great! You cannot go wrong with any of the items although the eel was just too much for me. Tuna/Salmon…terrific!
Ive been going to Yuki Hana since they opened and never had a bad meal there. Ive celebrated birthdays and have taken friends and special guest there. Best sushi around. Always great service and creative new, interesting appetizers and sushi specials. Their miso soup is always served piping hot and their plates of sushi and sashimi are always artfully presented. I love the Shrek Role, Spider Roll, soft shell crab role and the Yellow Tail. I prefer sashimi over sushi but it is all very fresh and good. The chefs are friendly and I alway throw them a couple of dollars on top of a tip.
I have been going to Yuki Hana since the week it opened and to this day it's my favorite sushi restaurant in the world. Maybe part of me is partial because I've been going here for close to a decade or maybe it's because it's in my hometown of Madison, NJ. But I think my love for this place is due to the downright delicious food. The Shrek Roll alone is worth the trip here – it started off as a special roll when they first opened and I told the owner that they needed to make it a permanent part of the menu because it was that good. The quality of fish is impeccable and always fresh and the rolls are tasty and creative. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. Also, if you're not a huge sushi fan, their chicken fried rice is one of the best I've ever tasted as well; unlike your typical Asian fried rice. Moreover, the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful and the decor is classy and clean – my preferred seat of choice is in one of the wooden bench huts. OH and it's BYOB, which rocks.
