OK, but not great. Will review more in detail later…
This place is pretty new to Williston Park, its got a cute outside with plants and a bench.
I was pleased with Yummy Gyro, and they have quite a bit of competiton, with Cyprus on Hillside, and Chicken Kebab in Roslyn Heights, but this place has quick convenience.
I would suggest coming here for a late lunch, because when I came here when they opened at 11, they said it would take an hour and a half for a donner gyro.
So I got the spinach pie, which was pretty good, and the pork souvlaki, which was alright. For the price, it made it taste that much better.
I was tempted to get the Baklava, but as usual, my diet is a bank account.
The menus are a bit confusing because there are so many variation of the gyro. I just rd wanted a traditional gyro. I accidentally the super gyro which had French fried rolled in it. I thought the fries were on the side. Anyways the tzaziki sauce is a bit thick and the meat was fatty. I still enjoyed it but will ask for more sauce and will ask for a plain old gyro. Also was skimpy on veggies.
***Review is for take-out only*** The food here is delicious, and it always satisfies my gyro fix. I usually get a gyro sandwich, but lately I've been trying to be good – so small greek salad w/ falafel. The falafel are huge, and pretty damn tasty. The sandwiches and wraps are good deals (~$7, large portions, and wraps come with fries), but the salads are expensive. I usually end up spending $12 after tax and tip on a small salad with whatever topping (falafel, chicken kabob, etc.). For lunch, that's a lot.
3 stars instead of 4, because they seriously take forever to deliver. Seems like they wait until they have a large enough order going in the same direction before heading out. The last two times I have ordered, they took 1.5 hours to deliver. I feel bad to complain, because the food is good, and the guy that picks up the phone is a sweetheart. But speedy delivery would just make me love this place 10x more.
I am so disappointed in Yummy Gyro of Williston Park. We always order here, I am talking about close to once per week. It has been our go to Greek in my neighborhood for dinner, lunch, delivery, pick up; you name it. Three times in a row they have screwed up our orders. Once I understand, but when we order three different items and multiple things are wrong and not what we ordered how am I supposed to give you my business?
I have called to complain and sometimes can not even get through. Sometimes they make up for it. Other times they do not. I will be taking our business elsewhere and plan on stopping in to speak with a manager, if they have one to express my discuss.
Hello, can I please have a Gyro, a what?, a Gy-Ro. Ohhhh, a "Year-O" o.k., no more comic relief.
Yummy Gyro is delicious. I've been here quite a few times now and have never been disappointed. The staff behind the counter are friendly and really look like they're working their butts off bak there. Today I noticed they were handling a huge order that faxed in. This place is becoming really popular with the local crowd.
I order the Gyro sandwich with fries ($8.75 tax incl) The sandwich was really good and had a generous portion of meat. The tzatziki sauce was really tasty too. Because of the big order my food took a little longer than usual to come out but it was worth the wait.
They have a few table inside and a couple outside (for sunny days like today!) I like to feel of this place, I know that sounds silly but they have a decent menu and the folks behind the counter seem genuinely nice. I like to support local businesses like this. I hope they continue to do well. "I'll be back!"
Updated review, over a year later, still love this place! Hot inside there today, so sat outside.
One of my close friends heard about it from someone else and asked if I would go with her to try it.
She is so happy to have discovered it 🙂
We each got chicken souvlaki sandwich on wheat pita, made it a combo to add a side and drink.
Combo drink options are unsweetened iced tea, sweetened iced tea and lemonade. (Great night for lemonade in this hot weather!)
