Yummy Thai not so yummy. Started off the meal with a chicken bone in the first bite of my curry chicken puff. They didn't seem super concerned, they made another, but really didn't want it after that.
I don't think they actually put any alcohol in their sangria, just tell you they do
The yellow curry was good, but they barely give you any rice for it. A tiny little cup. We asked for more, don't know if they charged us for it as I didn't pay the bill, but it wouldn't have surprised me.
Red curry was super spicy, but it's supposed to be, so that's fine, still skimpy on the rice though
We got the yummy mama noodle dish thing. Yea, that was ramen noodles on a plate with some seasoning, otherwise known as salt (probably the packet that comes with ramen noodles). My husband put the red curry sauce all over it and said that made it edible. Just don't get it, it's ramen noodles
Nope, won't be back
Small portions! I would give them 1 star based off the portions but the food is decent. My boyfriend and I get delivery from here sometimes and we've never had a problem. However, entrees will run you around $12 each plus tip+tax and you will probably still be hungry afterwards.
If you order the Drunken Noodles you will be disappointed! We finished our meal in less than five minutes and neither of us was satisfied. We paid almost $30 for our order. We should not be hungry still.
Let me go cook something now…
WHY DOES THIS PLACE HAVE 3 STARS??? It earned a 5 star from me today. LOCAL, AND GREAT INTERIOR + music to start.
The staff is attentive for the most part.. seated immediately, menu immediately, water immediately, appetizers immediately, entrées followed by shortly.
I ate the pineapple fried rice w/ chicken: flavors were on point. The pineapples were sweet, canned or not but if canned great job on choosing a great brand with quality(taste/sweetness) control.
Paired with lychee Thai iced tea: again flavors were there. Stirred it around with straw, and drank.. my 1st time and now I'm hooked. Had lychees inside, and ate a couple after finishing drink.
Price is well worth it as well and we got A LOT OF FOOD.
At least it's not sugary and greasy and gristly, like most mediocre forgettable Thai food, but it's definitely bland, and it's still mediocre and forgettable. But at least all of the ingredients were fresh.
This place needs wayyyyy more stars!! I was skeptical because of the rather low rating but yummy Thai blew me out of the water!
I will admit, this is probably not very authentic Thai food… Doesn't mean it's not delicious! We had the seafood kra-prow and the emperor duck and they were both equally delicious.
I love the ambiance of this place! Beautiful decor, including a fake tree in the center wrapped in lights. Had a good drink selection although I didn't try any.
I can't wait to come back to Yummy Thai and try more dishes!
Let me start with my disclaimer than I am a huge Asian food snob, I am Chinese and used to live in the part of Los Angeles that was known for yummy Asian food from all the Asian countries. Unfortunately, the Asian food in the Washington Heights area has disappointed me time after time but I always have hope and continue on my search. I also used to be a fat girl who has turned skinny and speak in terms of calories that are worth or not worth consuming.
I ordered delivery from Yummy Thai to feed one of my late night cravings for something salty. I ordered the spring rolls, the steamed vegetables, pad thai and the papaya salad. I used the YELP eat24 app and was able to google a $2 off coupon. Always google for a coupon when ordering delivery on this app!
The food was delivered before the guaranteed time and the portions were decent sized.
Somehow New York and Los Angeles classify their egg/spring rolls differently because in LA spring rolls are NOT fried but in New York they are! It was to my disappointment that my spring rolls were fried instead of rolls with soft rice paper. If you speak the LA lango, these are EGG ROLLS!
The steamed vegetables were just as described. No flavoring added nor wanted.
The papaya salad came in a generous portion yet was not as flavorful as others I have experienced. The "dressing" should have been more generous to soak up the flavors. I usually LOVE papaya salad and eat it till i'm practically licking the dish. This one was meh.
The pad thai was something else! I expect medium thick saucy noodles whenever I think of pad thai. Yummy thai's pad thai consisted of thin noodles similar to vermicelli that were dry rather than pad thai saucy. It lacked flavor and was definitely not worth the calories. I threw away the $11 pad thai because calories are precious and should be consumed eating something yummy. Byeeee carbs!
Yummi Thai? Sure, yummy, but not awesomely so.
My wife and I arrived about an hour early for a dinner with friends. Sat under the funky, but neat fake tree they have in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered waters and a couple apps. My wife's first bite of her chicken curry puff included a significantly-sized bone. The other 2 were good and we waited for the waitress to come by so we could say something. 10 minutes passed, she did not. I finally just walked it up and gave it to someone. They eventually brought a new one, but didn't say sorry or offer us anything else. Just ho hum.
The shrimp roll appetizer was just fair.
My aunt and her friend came and ordered a couple more apps. They were good (beef satay) to average – the veggies rolled in rice paper.
Entrees were a mixed bag. Had some Yummy Mama noodle dish. It seemed to us to just be raman noodles just thrown together with veggies and meat and not a very flavorful sauce.
Red chicken curry was perfect. Wished I had more rice for it, but I started pouring the sauce on everything to make it tasted better, so it was OK.
One of our party tried to order hot tea. Nope, they couldn't do so as their hot water machine was out of order (or so was explained to us). WHAT!? No hot water? They couldn't put a freaking pot on the grill/stove/whatever and boil some water. Pretty classless.
Came in for lunch on an overcast day, felt like curry was the right idea. Had the panang with tofu and vegetables, and it was oh so delicious. Perfect amount of sweetness, perfect amount of spicy kick. Green beans, green and red peppers, carrots, and pineapples. Yummy indeed.
Along with the lunch special comes a free appetizer, so I got the Thai salad – lettuce was wilted and yellow, sauce was okay (very sugary peanut-based).
The music here could use a serious makeover – too much energetic pop music. Why don't Thai places play Thai music? I often wish it were the case!
The price is right, especially for lunch specials, so check out this great spot if you're in Inwood.
