We were in the area and looking for a great Indian restaurant for an early dinner. Yelpers suggested Zaika, so we decided to give it a shot (Yelp deal in hand). We were quite impressed. The mixed grill was delicious – chunks of chicken breast marinated in different types of marinades, BBQed and served on a sizzling hot plate. Their coriander and mint sauces should be used generously – they were delicious. We also had the chana masala, which was OK. Not our favorite (and it was quite oily) but the chickpeas were perfectly cooked. The garlic naan was delicious. The best part of the meal was that even with the oily chana, the meal felt fairly healthy. The naan wasn't greasy, the chicken wasn't heavy. Overall, it was a delicious meal and I would highly recommend this spot!
Ive been to this place several times. Although they have okay bbq. The food is subpar. Decor is basically a fast food take out indian bbq. The staff is not very attentive n seemed to b bothered by american customers. The chicken tikka masala was grilled chicken thrown in some tikka masala sauce that was a little too fluorescent for me. I do have to admit that the garlic naan was delicious. They dont do buffet in less its a holiday. Prices are reasonable but if I am in area again I would look for another place to eat. Not worth it.
We have been here on two different occasions. Their kebab platter and the chicken haleem were really good. The biriyani and some of the veggie entrees like saag paneer and mirchi ka salaan were ok. The pakoras were greasy. If there's one reason we'd be back, it would be for the haleem.
there are not that many indian restaurants that delivery in new brunswick and so it is nice to have zaika as an option. the food arrived in a relatively accurate amount of time per the delivery order and most of it was still warm/hot upon arrival. the samosas are really good but have a lot of potato and most of the sauces have some pretty good flavor.
I had the beef bihari (its a huge serving), chicken masala, malai kofta (veggie dumplings), and naan for the first time and they were all great. Entire meal came to about $25 and was well worth it. Waitress was very nice, dining tables and seating are cozy and plenty for a small place. Definitely will stop by here again if my next road trips brins me near
We had just landed from Milan in JFK and were driving down to DC and were craving Pakistani food so we found this place. Absolutely awesome place. Wife and I got mango lassi's which were pretty good. Wife got saag paneer which she liked a lot. I got chicken tikka masala which was very good. Wife and I split a chicken wrap which was probably the highlight for me. The people running the shop were very very nice. This places is a ways away from the other Pakistani places in Edison but well worth going to. Will be back when we're in the area.
A little annoyed at yelp since my previous review had been flagged but I'll rewrite an abridged version since I really like Zaika!
I would highly recommend their BBQ items (chicken tikka, bihari kebabs, regular kebobs). Definitely try to trek from there if you're close by. They do a lot of takeout which you might want to try it out! I was told their ambiance would also change which would be nice for sit-down gatherings.
Their vegetarian options are also nice! We also do catering from here and they definitely deliver on flavor every time!
I'm not familiar with Indian cuisine but I must say that this place was really good.
The BF and I ordered a the Chicken Tikka Misala, Goat Nan (ground goat meat), sesame bread, he got the beef bread, and a chicken and rice dish. Sorry but all the names escape me at this time. Either way there was a party in my mouth and all the spices were invited. There really isn't anything that I ordered that I wouldn't order again. The portions were plentiful and the cost was affordable. Between all that we ordered we had alot of left overs to bring home and stuffed ourselved to the gill. All this for less than $40.
The decor leaves something to be desired but I'd pick good food over decor any day
