Zapata

“There are not many options for Mexican in Bergen County so I am forced just over the NY state line to Zapata.”

“The shrimp fajitas are as unique as they are delicious and seemingly healthy.”

“The guacamole is always fresh, and not over blended so you can tell it is made with fresh avocados.”

  1. Again, a stellar meal at Zapata…ate light this time, chips, salsa, guacamole and albondiga soup…..to die for soup.  A great hefty snack…see my photos!

  2. Authetinc, delicious food. The service is also wonderful and the staff is super friendly! They start you off with chips and salsa and a quesadilla for free. For your dinner, try one of the combinations – it's a lot of food but all very good!

  3. Ambience: as soon as you walk in you feel the authentic Mexican atmosphere. The decor was super cute and well thought of when placed.

Service: everyone was super nice here! From the person who sat us down to our waiter! Everyone was great, service was fast and didn't have to ask for much.

Food: my fiancé usually complains about Mexican places Bc he says that their not authentic, but he lived this place's food. To start we had the Zapata appetizer. That came with flautas, chimichangas, and nachos with guac and lettuce in the middle. All fresh all delicious! Main course, I had the tostadas, they also were very fresh and delicious. The rice and beans were so good !!! My fiancé had the fiesta de pancho, which was shrimp everything! Also fresh and delicious!!!

Drinks: I had a strawberry jalapeño margarita, at first was a little skeptical but my oh my what a great drink! Fresh strawberries used and jalapeños. My fiancé had a habanero margarita which he also loved! And yes it was spicier! But in a good way!

All in all I will be returning to this place even though it is an hour way from me haha well just about

  4. Came for dinner after some rock climbing on Saturday night. It was pretty packed, which is a good sign, but I guess because this is one of the few restaurants in the area. The restaurant is fairly large, and they do have their own parking lot.

We were seated quickly, and received free quesadillas with our chips and salsa to start. Our waiter soon returned to take our drink orders. I opted for a frozen peach margarita. It was pretty good, and fairly strong. I ordered the chimichangas, my favorite dish at most Mexican restaurants.

I was surprised to hear I was actually going to receive three chimichangas when I told the waiter I would like one beef and one chicken. But the three that came out looked more like taquitos than chimichangas. Both the chicken and beef were good, but nothing I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere.
