Zebu Grill Restaurant
“I had the carne cozida and it was absolutely delicious, the meat is so tender you don't need a fork.”
“Go for brunch and eat feijoada, drink caipirinha's and have an amazing afternoon.”
“As an entree we split the feijoada which was amazing, although I did find the steak a little too chewy and salty, but I'm not a big steak fan.”

I came here on a Friday evening for dinner because I stumbled upon this restaurant on Groupon. So check there before you come, you may find a good deal. I ordered the famous Brazilian dish called feijoada, and my date had comaroû BA moranga- an shrimp dish inside an acorn. Our food came out quick and the service was excellent. The drinks we had were also very well made. Try the caipirinha, it's amazingly delicious!
I was here last Saturday with a big group and was very satisfied with my choice. I had been here a few years ago, remembered that I liked it, but didn't quite remember why. So I gave it another try.
The place is small but very cute and atmospheric. The service is super-friendly and knowledgeable. Never pushy.
I had the steak with spinach and mashed potatoes. It was good, but quite plain, and not as abundant as the other dishes I saw served. I wish I had ordered something different. I had the chance to taste the shrimp in coconut milk and it was very good. I also had quite a bit of feijoada and I found it very good, especially the sausage. A lot of food, too.
Everybody was happy with their food and the service.
I would totally go back.

we went last night for valentine's day. he loves it and wanted me to experience it. i'm definitely convinced. the room is great with lots of charm. the service was pretty terrific as well, everyone was responsive and friendly. the food was very good. i started with crispy shrimp and crab rolls and he had the corn soup, both of which were delicious. for our main courses, he had beef that literally melted in your mouth accompanied by mashed potatoes in a black bean sauce and house made chips. i had a trio of sausage (sweet, hot, and lamb) skewered with peppers and onions and served with potatoes. for dessert we shared the crepes with chocolate sauce. everything was really quite wonderful from start to finish.
Another place that I walked by countless times and never tried. Wow! Am I glad we did! An outstanding meal from start to finish. The space is very warm and inviting, loved the feel right when I walked in. Excellent Sangria, top notch, tasty, fruity and really refreshing. I am glad we did not get the pitcher as I would have drank the whole thing and walked out ossified. Excellent service, not overbearing, very attentive with excellent knowledge of the menu. The baby back ribs were simply to die for, outstanding depth of flavor in the glaze, just enough fat for an outstanding taste. My entree was grilled top sirloin with a port wine glaze served with banana puree. Outstanding, simply outstanding. I would have never thought to pair steak with banana but what an awesome combination. I slathered every bite of steak with pureed banana and savored it. Yum! And dessert? The crepes were positively decadent, light with caramel inside and drizzled with fudge. In case you can't tell, I really liked this place and highly recommend!!!!!
Zebu is tucked over on 92nd Street. It is quiet and warmly lit; an ideal date spot. The service was impeccable. We had a courteous waiter who left us alone, but was always there when we needed him. My water was always refilled, and everything was served in a timely manner.
Before the meal, they provided an amuse bouche of some sort of fresh Brazilian bruschetta, and warm, soft bread accompanied by herb butter. We opted for the 3-course prix fixe of $25. It was an easy decision, considering that the entrees were all around $20, and the appetizers around $9.
I started with the pastel (chicken), which was essentially empanadas served with an orange sauce that had a hint of curry to it. She had the salad with everything in the kitchen sink (if your kitchen sink was inexplicably filled with hearts of palm, cherry tomatoes, beets, onions, walnuts, corn, greens and a very light dressing).
Her rigatoni with sausage was delightful, but the carne cozida I opted for was a touch overcooked and underseasoned. It just wasn't as juicy and flavorful as that brisket-like cut of meat should be.* The sauce and the mashed potatoes were wonderful, as was the homemade hot sauce they brought out with it.
I generally avoid dessert, and I almost never order it unless it is part of a prix fixe, but my date and I both agreed that it was the best flan we'd ever had. (Please keep in mind that I've only had flan a handful of times.)
*This was literally the only thing I could complain about in this entire experience. Zebu did everything else right, but as it was my entree, I was forced to dock a star.
I have lived on this block for three years and only just tried this place last week. My roommate and I came with a Groupon deal that gave us 2 caiphirinas, 2 appetizers, and 2 entrees. The caiphirinas are amazing: strong, cold, sour, sweet, everything you want in a drink! For appetizers we had black bean soup and the cheese pasteles, which were amazing: mild cheese stuffed inside flaky puff pastry and deep fried, omg I could have eaten 4 of these. For dinner I had the Milanese, which was lightly breaded and served with an amazing salad. Everything in the salad was bright and fresh and dressed perfectly. My roommate had the garlic and lemon chicken with potato puree, which was amazing. The garlic perfectly flavored the entire meal without being too intense. The service was very kind. It's a cute little neighborhood spot!
