Zhou’s Yummy Restaurant
“It doesn't say anything about vegetables, so I'm not sure why Y.H. was expecting vegetables in the LAMB SOUP…just sayin'.”
“The entree may be on the expensive side, so i will stick to the cold dish (i.e. cucumber cold noodle) and the skewers!”
“The owner learned the Mongolian or Uygur`s way of cooking by putting cumin, chili-pepper and other spices in to the dish and it is just so good.”

Heard of Zhou's a long time for its renown lamb meat, so decided to pay a visit for their lamb skewers and soup.
Our group shared a big plate of skewers – lamb meat, beef, chicken heart, mushroom and chives. I would say heart probably was the best among all as it has completely absorbed the soup base. Very similar to what I once had in a street cart back in my hometown!
Good for group as well, as they have plenty of space inside.
Owned by the guy who ran a wonderful cart by the Flushing Library so many years. So yes, it was time to visit.
Overall, a great place to go for skewers. That's almost four stars. Everything else… mixed bag. And so long as you're ok with mixed service, cleanliness that borders on stomach-turning, and heat, you should be ok. Also, good: takes credit cards.
Often a wait, and crowded, so you may share tables. Sat down, not a lot of space, so put the kids in the middle and the adults out near the path where hot food would be coming by. The cups & spoons, a little dirty, and the plate a bit greasy still from whatever last dish it held. Also, far too warm in the restaurant. They could do with opening the doors, even in winter, to make it better for temperature. My fellow diners also normally love hot, but they were still too warm. And I was in a short-sleeved t-shirt. Service was great taking orders for skewers, then disappeared for a while before coming back for the other courses.
Ice tea $1.Water – tap is free. Tea, comes to the table. Chopsticks are metal – interesting choice, makes it a bit more slick for things like noodles.
Dishes:
Tripe w chili oil – less spicy, more sweet, a lot of chopped cilantro on top. I ordered this expecting more spicy and ended with sweet, which was ok, but not quite what I expected.
Lamb skewers ($1.25 each for these) – tasty, though they discourage ordering only a few at a time and prefer giving you a lot – which means they get cold and slimy fast. Better to order a few. Spicing probably the best in the area, though still a pale comparison to Xi'an's lamb skewer carts.
Squid skewers – surprisingly good. Sweeter and tastier.
Mantou skewers – also good, sweeter than normal mantou.
Gizzard skewers – ok, but underwhelmed.
Lamb soup w/ fish and noodles – white from boiling the lamb for long enough that the marrow soup becomes flavorful, fish had a lot of bones, and lamb was too chewy.
Tomato & egg flower soup with noodles – it's tomato & egg soup with boiled noodles thrown in. Skip.
Mackerel grilled and flavored with the same spices as the skewers – good if you like it, but the flavor of the fish all but disappears with the spicing such to make it everything else.
Snow pea leaves sauteed w/garlic – this was quite good, actually.
White Rice – 1$ / bowl, extra.
