2 pies…..No wait….2 DELICIOUS PIES for $20 (only when the games are on)……so tasty….was not in the mood to go out and wanted to order in. Saw on Facebook the reviews and thought I am up for the challenge. I will continue to order their pies and it's made me curious to see what their food is like. Will be keeping u updated…Wooooow….
Why is it that I haven't ate here yet being that I literally live 5 minutes away??
So my Co-workers and I decided to order from here and chinese take out will no longer make it to our lunch room table….
They have lunch specials —- major points for that…
Lunch specials doesn't only include slices of pizza and a can but it includes actual dinner meals and I couldn't pass up on the pasta….
So I ordered the $5.95 – (YES only $5.95) red meat sauce spaghetti with 3 garlic knots (garlic knots is part of the meal)
And let me tell y'all it was delicious I was so mad I got full with a few bites ( I think the garlic knots did it and sampling off everyone else's food)… they served so much food it's literally enough for 3 people…
Among other food that was ordered ..
Caesar salad= fresh romaine lettuce and enough Parmesan cheese….
Cheese Stromboli = it was so cheesy and huge I swear 5 people could eat out of it and there would still be some leftover… (my coworker ordered it and I can't believe how much cheese they put it in )
Garlic bread= OMG mmmm speechless …. u should try it… not too much butter like most places and crispy enough garlic … I could seriously survive eating garlic bread from here on a daily basis.. .
Grilled chicken wrap another coworker ordered had so much chicken we could of made 3 wraps … And everything looked fresh..
The pizza looked good as well … Did I mention one slice looks equivalent to 2….
I'm actually looking forward to my next lunch meal….
I rate restaurants on the overall experience. The overall experience of ordering delivery from Zi Zia is overwhelmingly excellent.
I've had the pizza which was pretty standard for a plain cheese pie, but very good. What stood out for me were:
The Grilled Steak sandwich- amazing- a really nice well prepared steak on Italian toast, mozzarella, grilled onions and mushrooms, so very good.
The Broccoli Rabe appetizer- broccoli Rabe perfectly sautéed with really good italian sausage, whole clove roasted garlic, thin sliced potatoes and 3 long hot roasted peppers that burn a bit but the flavor makes it worth it. Served with a side of Italian bread, this alone has been my meal many times…I've ordered it a half dozen times since the first amazing taste.
The calzone too is great, but seems to have shrunk since the first order…
The house salad is great, but check out the spinach salad for an extra special treat! Also, desserts have been great, had the tres Leche cake (I know, not italian, but we love good food!), and tonight I'm having the peanut butter fudge cake…
Check these guys out, explore the menu, you're in good hands. A truly great pizzeria is more than a one trick pony, and Zi Zia delivers, really, they do.
Had a really nice little luncheon party here yesterday. Food was good, service was good. There were a couple of very minor serving mistakes but all in all a great time.
We had appetizers for the table. I liked the calamari, didn't try the shrimp, and I liked the eggplant.
I had the manicotti lunch. It was very good. A tad too sweet, but very good. The garlic knots abounded.
We were a party of about 12 and everyone left satisfied. Some of us left with leftovers. I haven't tried the pizza from here yet but will sometime soon.
Oh boy. Here we go again. I was really hoping the new name (and presumably new ownership) would turn this place around and make me forget about all the horrible memories I had when ordering from Calandra's. Like the time my pizza was so soggy it tasted like a dog wet on it. But nope. Short of the renovations, the "new" pizza appears to be coming from the same old oven as the pizza before. Maybe my palate has just been spoiled by coal and wood fired pizza, but I've now ordered pizza to go from here twice and something about the crust just isn't right. The tomatoes on the pizza also tasted like they came from the can.
Such a shame too because this place underwent months of renovations before the grand re-opening. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back.
I like to frequent local restaurants and have been wanted to try this place and gave it a shot. I am so happy that i did! Ordered dinner to go last night for the first time and this place is delicious and will be my new go-to!
I ordered the mozzarella en carrozza, Margherita pizza, and garlic bread with cheese. Everything was warm and tasty! The tomato sauce was perfect and the garlic bread was crispy and the garlic/cheese was the perfect amount. But my all time favorite was the mozzarella – fried deliciousness that can clog any artery but is a must try!
I will definitely be back!
Came here to pick up a pizza, garlic knots, and rigatoni with vodka. I thought the pizza was one of the best I've had in the area, I'd give it 5 stars. The vodka sauce had some tang or an odd balance of flavors in it and the clearly frozen peas were very under cooked, I'd give it 3 stars. And the pasta was over cooked. The garlic knots had good flavor but the middle was really dry, 4 stars.
If I went back, I'd only go for the pizza. If I wanted pasta I'd go to Matthew's is Clifton where it's consistently good.
Parking is tough, look on the side 1 way street or in their small lot. No complaints about the service other than I had to call 10 times before I got through.
Lunch specials seemed worth it and probably a better value if you want to try something new. They are Monday to Saturday 11 to 3.
Overall I'm between a 3.5 and 4 stars. Maybe worth a second try but not for the pasta.
Zi Zia is right off of the main strip near Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and Montclair. They are a family run business (I think) that only serves Bloomfield by delivery – I learned this when I called from my Mom's apartment at Norman Towers which sits on the border of Bloomfield and East Orange. Not to mention is neighbor to The Lofts condominiums that are technically in Bloomfield.
We did end up stopping by to pick up an ordered on the way home. Got a medium pie with two toppings. The price was decent for the quality of the product. I wouldn't say it was the absolute best pizza I've ever had but it was good. Near a liquor store where you can buy beer which goes well with pizza.
