OMG this hole in the wall is such a gem in this neighborhood. I can't believe I can get authentic Spanish food right at the corner of Parsons and Union. I used to think that I can only get authentic Spanish food in the Bronx or Corona Queens but this place changed my mind! This place has different foods during half the week, so the food is never constant. They also tend to run out of food around 4 hours before closing. I came here around 5pm on a Thursday (they close at 7:30) and there was no beans and no chicken left…only the roast pork, which was okay with me because I love roast pork anyways. The lady was nice enough to let me substitute the beans with the fried bananas since they had none left. Let me tell you, the food looked as good as it tasted.
The pork was so tender and NOT dried at all. The skin and meat just melt in your mouth. The bananas also compliments the pork so well! All this delicious foods and only $6!!! I can't believe how inexpensive it was! This was a full meal for me and I paid so little! OH, this place does not accept cards so make sure you bring cash with you!! I can't wait to keep coming back here for more! I really want to try their baked goods as well.
Walked in finally….after working right by it for 5 years. Great lil Dominican dive. I've had there Dominican cake many times at work functions. Today I said- lemme try the hot food & see how it goes. I went for the stewed chicken w yellow rice & peas…$6. It was pretty good, & I only ate half of the portion. They gave me a leg & a breast, pretty decent size. It is filling. They have a good menu, with a few popular dishes & soups. There desserts all looked great as well. Will definitely be back soon because I love spots that remind me of good home cookin'.
