I really enjoyed myself here on a recent Tuesday night.
Wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. The service was attentive. The prices are a little high, but I assume the rent causes that more than anything.
The hamburguesa, and tacos were both good. Enjoy!
Cute interior with outdoor seating upstairs. Ordered the steak enchiladas in this green sauce. Tasted fine. Nothing spectacular. Got a watermelon margarita. Refreshing on a hot day and I love the little slice of watermelon that comes on your cup. Also had the guacamole. So good. I like their chips and bean dip as well. Food is not amazing. Definitely had better Mexican food but come here for the atmosphere and margaritas!
Summary: I'd give this place a good 3-3.5 star rating, and consider coming back for a happy hour or something IF I'm in the area. Its a two floor place right off of the L line Lorimer St stop in Brooklyn, which makes for a convenient stop in.
I stopped in with a group of 5, and we were able to sneak a table between reservations. It was a bit tight, as it likely was for a group of 4, but we survived.
Our waiter was friendly, and we went forward with her recommendation for the Mexican Burger, Enchiladas w/ Steak, Veggie Tacos and Enchiladas with Chicken. All portions were just right (i.e. not too much and not too small) so we left in a good place. Key highlights of the food:
– Burger: has a pineapple slice on it, which gives for a very interesting (good way) taste.
– Chicken Enchiladas: light and airy, comes with beans and some others. I personally needed some more flavor, so ask for either red (hot) or green (mild) sauce
– Steak Enchiladas: same as chicken, but had more flavor
– Veggie Tacos: small portion and is served with 3 sauces
For those who are claustrophobic, this likely is not a good spot for you. That being said, NYC as a whole may not be a very good spot for you…
My brother and I have hit up the Zona Rosa this summer and we can't enough guac and margaritas!! There's a rooftop with two large fans blowing. A definite popular spot for the neighborhood. One of the rooftops in the area and people are taking advantage this summer.
What I love about this place is AVOCADOS!!! The dishes we order have either slices of avocados or guacamole. We sometimes order the chips and guac and don't hold back in devouring every morsel of good fat avocados! Nomnomnomnom! I'm like the Cookie Monster when it comes to avocados! The sharing concept escapes my memory and I'm one second away from flipping the chip bowl into my mouth with my head tilted back. Mwahhahhahha!
Ok. Back to the restaurant. This place is a pretty penny. I love margaritas with guac and chips and this is the place for all those lovely things. The enchiladas are killer and a popular item. My brother can't seem to tear himself away from them. I also had the chilaquiles and they were just what the doctor ordered on a Saturday morning after a rough night. There's a bit of the crunch from the chips and the nice spicy green salsa. I asked for my eggs over medium, they were more runny than I expected but I didn't mind. There is then dollops of guac and refried beans. This is the perfect plate to assemble the perfect bite! The Chilaquiles were huge and I even had a tough time finishing! I was shocked! We didn't even have room for dessert. And I was really eyeballing the churro a. Next time!
I've always wanted to check this place out since I first saw it. Really creative open kitchen idea, which actually looks like an old school food truck. The interior is really cool, an I wish I had the chance to see the upstairs. Me and my honey came here for brunch, and the food was good. I had the enchiladas verdes with steak, and he had the huevos con chorizo. Both were tasty, but I would say the enchiladas were more filling. I also tried the margarita tamarindo, which had a unique taste to it that I couldn't really place, and a little more tart than I imagined, but good regardless. Would visit again.
My cousin and I wanted to do dinner out to catch up, and so I suggested this place. I was glad that it wasn't so far and on top of that there wasn't much a wait. The tables seemed a little close together but since it wasn't packed it wasn't an issue. I hate feeling like i'm apart of the party sitting next to me…anyway, we ordered. Food came out in a timely fashion, I had a shrimp ceviche that was amazing. I think everything we had was good, and loved the way the food was displayed. I really should go back…
Really cute Mexican spot – the downstairs is cozy and has a great vibe. Our group loved all of our dishes (sopa azteca, queso fundido, vegetarian tacos and enchiladas) – unfortunately the service was not that great. It was somewhat early on a Saturday evening, and I do think that our server was maybe spread a bit thin – but we had to ask for everything at least twice. Also at one point he brought out flour tortillas instead of the corn tortillas which could have been messy since I can't have gluten. Luckily, I was able to spot the difference. I would rank this more of a 3.5 based on the service and the risky allergy situation, but I rounded up because the ambiance and food were actually pretty lovely.
Sweet treat in Williamsburg… The restaurant has two floors and there's an option to sit outside in front of the establishment during the hot summer months. The bottom floor has a romantic vibe while upstairs is casual as its an enclosed rooftop with patio seating.
The food comes in small portions but nonetheless, its delicious. I enjoyed the guacamole as an appetizer. I devoured the grilled tilapia tacos which comes with a three sauce trays. For dessert, I ate the coconut churros with goat milk caramel – hot damnnn that was good. The churros are made in-house so they arrived hot to the table. I did not get to enjoy the drinks, but I will update this review next time I visit.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood!
