Definitely a hole in the wall, but with outstanding food at rock bottom prices $6.50 lunch special served all day). We were very happy with everything we ordered. we had two lunch specials: pernil and baked chicken. Portions were generous and everything was well-cooker and tasty. Tres leches cake (not made in house) was spot on. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
This place is good and inexpensive! It can't get any better than that. But seriously this is some good Spanish food. This place is definitely a little gem in Manhattan. It reminds me of one of the local authentic Spanish food spots in Brooklyn. They serve the "lunch special" all day which is what I got for $6.50. Pernil, rice, beans and a couple of maduros. I was extremely full and satisfied after eating. My meals usually cost way more than that in the city so this was extremely refreshing. This place is absolutely nothing fancy, just a few tables and a very small kitchen. This is definitely a great spot to grab a quick meal!
Caught an uber here while I was in NYC. I was craving some Dominican cuisine and wanted some chicken and rice. Came here with a friend; decided to order Baked Chicken (pollo al horno), pepper steak (bistec salteado). Chicken Stewed (pollo guisado), sweet fried plantains (tostanes o maduras) and the yellow rice (arroz amarillo). My friend decided to order the mashed green plantains (mofango).
It's small inside but a whole lot of love in the food. Sometimes big things come in small packages. The portions were hearty and the food was authentically amazing. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and tender as bubblegum. The pepper steak literally melted in your mouth in your mouth and the chicken stewed was absolutely delish. All of the food was absolutely mouthwatering and the service was A1. I will definitely be back when in NY again
great food around the neighborhood
Thanks to the Hell's Kitchen Yelpers who pointed this authentic, tiny Puerto Rican restaurant out as a must-eat!
Zoralie has multiple daily specials to choose from. I was torn between the Pepper Steak and Baked Chicken (Sunday), so asked the sweet petite server for recommendations. She suggested the chicken, so I went with dark meat, yellow rice, and black beans (choices: white/dark, white/yellow, red/black/pinto [?]).
The chicken was so flavorful and moist: definitely worth the trip alone! The rice was bland, though, but the beans were good. A few slices of plantain were included and those were good as well.
The menu listed the special as $10, but my bill was $7.25. Seriously?! Even better!
Zoralie is a total win for a hearty Puerto Rican meal!
No wonder the Latinas got dem big asses..it's from eating this fantastic homeade tasting dominican fare.
Late in the game for me, but I'm trying to grow my badonka donk too sans surgery and this seems like a delicious way to do some expansion.
They specialize in MOFONGO which is all the rage these days. Many different kinda from salami to lobster. The plates of rice, beans and meat are a steal at $6 fitty. You get a choice of yellow, white or rice/bean mix then there's the red bean vs black bean quandary. To get platanos and onions is up to you. All the meats are pretty delish but they have daily special meats too at the same price so holla!
I love their simple rice and beans with the ribs on Fridays! I need this hearty meal after such an intense 3 hr werkout. This food hits da spot and hopefully builds the other spot!!!
Best fried plantains I've had in the city. Very good pigeon peas with rice – sounds very bland but quite the contrary (it has so much flavor). It's a bit on the salty side but I have a salt tooth – great for vegetarians. Roommate loves it as well. Flan is very good – has a strong vanilla-caramel taste. Big portions for the prices. When I went there, the customers and workers were all Spanish – so you KNOW it's good! Definitely a rare gem in Midtown.
I've tried the cheese and chicken mofongo and both times have been very satisfied. The portions are enormous, especially when you don't know what you're doing and end up with the mofongo in addition to the lunch combo. The plantains are expertly cooked so that they're lightly crunchy on the outside while being juicy and sweet on the inside. The mofongo can be slightly dry but pairs nicely with a side of beans. Added bonus is that it's a great value meal.
