I've stopped by here occasionally when I need a change of scenery while studying. They've got ambient music, solid coffee, stable wifi and DELICIOUS pastries. You must try the alfajores–just wow. A little on the small and pricey side, but totally worth it every once and a while.
Additionally, it's a quintessential east village spot near the park with a lot of character and charm. Every time I come in with my LSAT book, the lady behind the counter is ready with a water and an alfajores once I've set myself up.
What a lovely Israeli bakery! I appreciate the warm & cozy atmosphere, the aroma of freshly baked goods, the imperfect stamped logo on the to-go cups and boxes… and of course, the heavenly assortment of cookies and pastries. The Israeli blood in me always has me craving sweets filled with dates and poppy seeds – which makes Zucker Bakery the perfect spot pour moi!
Cookie of choice? Their "playdates" are fantastic (amongst everything else).
If stars were awarded for cuteness alone this place would be 5-stars all the way. It's like if your favorite Etsy shop and Anthropologie had a baby.
The sweets, however, all seem a little excessively fancy. And the woman behind the counter seemed put out with having to tell me one by one what they were. And they're all pretty pint-sized.
Location: east village.
9th street.
Cozy small place.
The place is definitely trying to be a place for some long-time-hang-out with friends.
Inside, there are arts and lovely pictures on the wall.
Outside, they have some chairs for hangout.
I wanna be here because I heard of their great bakeries.
Food: so I had their cookies…
I think I had too much expectation so when I actually had the cookies, I felt so disappointed.
The cookies is ..forgettable
The price is crazy – 2.5 for a small cookie.
Dislike this place…
I stopped into this bakery after the dog parade over the weekend because the beau was starving. It's a very cute / cozy bakery close to tompkins square park, however seating is very limited as people tend to buy a small tea and plop themselves in one of the couches or at the tables seemingly for hours on end. Therefore, if it is busy you will need to get your food to go.
I wasn't enticed by any of the baked goods in the display case (there were not that many options for a bakery) but my boyfriend got a pastry and latte and he seemed to enjoy it.
The workers were nice enough, although you could tell they were not all that thrilled with the internet parkers. I think they should take a cue from many cafe's and limit internet / laptop use during their peak times.
Tip: they offer a yelp check in deal where you get a free coffee when you buy a box of cookies
I love bakeries! Zucker was no exception. Not only is the case filled with tons of delicious treats to pick from but every little nook and cranny has something to look at. I love the woven bird cages and the plush little birds nestled inside. I also enjoyed seeing the vintage Danish looking furniture. I'm a big fan of a great product surrounded by great style. And Zucker is all that. I knew I wanted to try the Alfajores. That is the most popular of all the treats. I ordered a drip coffee with soy, a Alfajores and I couldn't resist getting an avocado toast with Zatar spices. Zatar spices are a middle eastern blend of spices we don't use to often in America. When the waitress brought the avocado toast over it came on the cutest vintage glass tray and a complimentary glass of peppermint tea. It was delightful! My Alfajor was two gorgeous cake cookies filled with a dulce de leche caramel and the sides are rolled in coconut. Everything was tasty and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I esepecially enjoyed the touch of coconut. I will definitely become a regular here. I felt like I was just going o a friend's house for tea.
One of the cutest bakery hidden in east village.
The cashier was so nice and she explained all the desserts they have. I had the choco kids treat, they were amazing! Not a huge fan of the coconut bar though. They also have a variety of desserts that are made of dates.
This bakery smells like a bakery should, and they have a Yelp check-in offer! The selection is very diverse – alfajores, ginger snaps, other Middle Eastern/Mediterranean baked delights. They also serve coffee and it appears that they have WiFi (guy working on his laptop there made me believe this). Employees seem friendly and willing to make suggestions, which is always helpful with some of the lesser known baked goods.
