“Whichever one you choose, you get a choice of thin straight noodles or thick wavy noodles.”

“The rich broth also has a slight grainy texture, sort of similar to curry liquid.”

“The toppings that were included in the zenbunose was pretty basic ones so I didn't feel it was worth $18.”

  1. No wait on a Friday night at 7pm!

I got the Ajitama hot ramen with the classic, thin straight noodles. Solid ramen, but thing is, it's so similar to many others that I'm no longer blown away by any of them. Being able to choose the fattiness of the broth and type of noodle was a plus. Egg was great, and the broth was good. I would recommend it, but it just wasn't that memorable.

Of course I got the kaedama (extra noodles) for $1 – and you should too.

Cash only – closest ATM was the wells fargo 2 blocks to the west

  2. Cute place. I'm a fan of the big round tables. Excellent service.* Would drop in if I were hungry for ramen and happen to be passing by. Otherwise, unmemorable.

*Almost too excellent. I felt like the servers were watching my every move. Made me slurp-shy.

  3. Delicious and possibly my favorite bowl of ramen in the city. I hate to say it but I would come here over Ippudo. The Zenbunose ramen was so flavorful and creamy and the egg was cooked really well. I LOVEDDD everything about it.

Place is a little small and there is a chance you will have to sit at a communal table, but I didn't mind. Also bonus points for super friendly staff!

  4. Loveee! My new favorite ramen spot! We came on a weekday for dinner and had no problems getting a seat. We ordered 2 apps and 2 bowls of ramen to share. Definitely recommend getting the karaage and the ajitama ramen with thick noodles. Love the spiciness of the broth and the spice still lingers in your mouth without it being overpowering.

If i had one thing to say it would be don't be ambitious and go extra rich. The regular richness was already very flavorful and didn't need anymore. My friend went with the "rich" and while it was really good on the first slurp, I don't think I would have been able to finish. 10/10 would come back again!

  5. I wonder how smart it is to open a ramen shop around the corner of Ippuddo. But hey wth I went in and gave it a try during lunch. I like how you can customize the type of ramen and broth you get. But like all the suggestions going with the typical ramen and not to fatty is the way to go. Overall this place is pretty good and gives Ippuddo a run for its money but that broth at Ippuddo can't be touched

  6. Ordered the zenbunose ramen which included all the toppings (full egg cut in halves, seaweed, bean sprouts, spicy topping, spicy cabbage, pork slices x 4). Got the light soup base with thick wavy noodles. Even though it was "light" soup base, it was still pretty heavy and thick so luckily I ordered the light choice. That's probably because it was still pork and not chicken broth. I think one drawback about this place was the price. The zenbunose was $18, compared to other ramen spots where the avg price is usually $13-15. The toppings that were included in the zenbunose was pretty basic ones so I didn't feel it was worth $18. Those toppings are usually already included at other ramen spots. The flavor was definitely tasty though. They have a lunch special where you can get a ramen + appetizer (offered weekdays from 11:30a-3p). I would come back for the lunch special. Nonetheless, this place was pretty good.

  7. Zundo-Ya may be the new kid on the block next to Ippudo, but beware of its deliciousness.

This place has officially became my all time favorite ramen Restuarant in NYC! Beats Ippudo around the corner, which is disgusting, bland and over priced and definitely tops my used to be favorite Totto ramen. Everything about this place is tip top sharp, well thought out and most important, their ramen is scrumptious and made to my liking!!!

I found this hidden gem (literally hidden downstairs on 10th St) while trying to get my ramen fix in and didn't want to wait for the long lines at Totto Ramen. Of course, YELP DOES IT AGAIN, found me this amazing place! I first came to this place early 2016 and I still continue to enjoy the ramen goodness, while always remembering to bring new friends each time. I even went 3 times in one month…..yeah, you can say I am in love…..

Here's my favorite go to dishes:

    1) Otsumami chashu
-thin slices of pork belly with bean sprouts that give is a nice texture

    2) Ramen: in general, the ramen is all the same just the additives with each one. You can't go wrong with any dish you order, again, cause the broth is all the same, but the additives give it a little touch. My go to is the Motoaji Hot Ramen because I eat nothing but spicy ramen, but I have had the others and they are all just as good.

    Motoaji Hot Ramen:
Choice of soup and noodles: rich and wavy FTW
-This is just a step up from the basic Motoaji Ramen, the spice added into it gives it that extra punch, but doesn't take away from the thick flavor.
-I have had this both regular and rich, regular taste excellent, but rich is even better!  I am usually not a fan of more oily fatty things, but the richness added gives it a mouth watering taste.
-I would suggest added an egg, which gives you the next step up on the ramen menu, however, if you have a friend who orders everything in it, you can always steal 1 of the 2 that they have =)

    Music:
Hip hop – Thank god! love the head bopping tunes

Everything is perfect – Service is excellent, all the workers are friendly and attentive to your needs.
The napkins fancy and thick, doesn't rip while wiping your mouth.
Setting is small, but big enough to have a party greater than 6 and intimate to have a romantic dinner for 2.

    So in love…

  8. This is my favorite ramen in NYC!  I always get the Ajitama Hot Ramen Regular with thick-wavy noodle and it is always delicious! I think Ajitama just means it includes the egg.  The chashu pork here is what really makes this place stand out… It has like a bbq'ish flavor to it! I've been here twice and never had to wait but it would still definitely be worth one!
